After a national search, Hudson Valley Community College Director of Athletics Justin Hoyt named Adam Sopris as the college's new Assistant Director of Athletics. "Adam brings a tremendous amount of experience to the athletic department and his skill set will be a valuable asset for our programs and student-athletes," said Hoyt. "More importantly, Adam is a person of high character that will assist our student-athletes in achieving both academic and athletic excellence."

At the LEC, Sopris served as the assistant commissioner and was the primary communications representative for its 19 sponsored collegiate sports. Sopris handled all of the strategic efforts in webcast and website development, new media and sports information, and handled administrative responsibilities in LEC Championships and the LEC 30th Anniversary marketing plan.

"I am very excited for the opportunity to return home to the Capital Region, and I'm looking forward to being a part of the Viking family," Sopris said. "I am ready to help the department achieve its future goals and continue to grow the programs in a positive direction."

Prior to joining the LEC, Sopris served the Siena College athletic department in game operations and media relations, where he was responsible for webcasting, video highlights and serving as the primary communications representative for field hockey, golf, softball, swimming and diving and water polo.

As a two-year graduate assistant at the University of San Francisco (USF), Sopris gained tangible intercollegiate administrative experience in an array of departments including corporate sponsorships, media relations, ticketing and promotions. Sopris also completed a game operations internship with the National Basketball Association's Golden State Warriors while earning his master's in sport management at USF.

A graduate of Siena College, Sopris holds a bachelor's degree in marketing and management.
