The Hudson Valley Community College athletics department and the college community have come together to organize a fundraising effort for Vikings men's basketball student-athlete, Justus Simon, on Saturday, Feb. 3 from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the McDonough Sports Complex.

In concert with the Hudson Valley Community College Foundation, the Vikings athletic department has established an online fundraising campaign to support Justus and the Simon family. The athletics department has created "Justus Simon" t-shirts and they will be available to purchase for $20 during the Community & Sports Spirit Day on Saturday, Feb. 3 in the McDonough Sports Complex. All donations and proceeds will assist the Simon family directly.

Justus, a business administration major, was in the first semester of his freshman season at Hudson Valley Community College, where he was a member of the Vikings men's basketball program. Simon played in 11 games and started twice for the Vikings during the Fall semester and averaged 5.9 PPG and shot 36 percent from the floor.

Prior to enrolling at Hudson Valley, Simon, a Troy native, attended Green Tech high school where he played two years of varsity basketball and track and field.

For additional information about Spirit Day, how you can support the Simon family or t-shirt purchases, please email Adam Sopris at a.sopris@hvcc.edu.
