The Hudson Valley Community College men's soccer team (8-7) fell to Bergen Community College 3-1 on Tuesday afternoon.
The Vikings and the Bulldogs each scored in the first half as they entered the break tied a 1-1. Hudson Valley's leading scorer, Garrett Axtmann (Castleton/Maple Hill) found the back of the net for his 11th goal of the season and snapped his two-game scoreless streak. Carl Kernochan (Ballston Spa/Ballston Spa) recorded the assist on Axtmann's goal.
Bergen responded in the second half and scored twice on the Vikings and their defense kept the Vikings off the board in the second half to secure the 3-1 win.
Men's soccer concludes the 2017 regular season at home on Sunday, Oct. 22 when they play Jefferson Community College at 3 p.m. The game will be broadcasted live on the Vikings Broadcast Network and can be viewed on the Hudson Valley athletics website (athletics.hvcc.edu).
