The Hudson Valley women's basketball team (12-3) concluded the NHTI Tournament with a 2-0 record after they defeated U-Maine Augusta 89-60 on Sunday morning in Concord, N.H.
The No. 10 ranked Vikings finished the game with four individuals recording double-doubles and were led by Taylor Engster's (Troy/Catholic Central) 19 points and 12 rebounds. Hannah Kreiger (Brunswick/Tamarac) had a big game from behind the arc as she shot 50-percent and connected for six made three-point field goals. Kreiger finished with a team-high 22 points.
Madison Graber (Schenectady/Schalmont), Caitlin Estes (Scotia/Scotia-Glenville) and Hayley Jones (Catskill/Catskill) all recorded double-doubles and combined to score 40 points and grabbed 34 rebounds. Graber shot 7-for-15 from the floor for 16 points and added 10 boards. Estes ended the game with 10 points and 12 rebounds, while Jones shot 6-for-11 for 14 points and 12 total boards, including a game-high 10 defensive rebounds.
As a team, the Vikings shot 35-for-87 from the floor, including 10-for-33 from behind the arc. The group collected 67 total rebounds and added 17 assists.
The Vikings are back home this Saturday, January 12 to face Monroe-Bronx at 2 p.m. in the McDonough Sports Complex.
