Hudson Valley Community College women's soccer (6-1) dropped their first match of the season 1-0 to Mohawk Valley on Wednesday evening in Troy, NY.
The two teams played an evenly matched game with great energy throughout the entire match. Following a scoreless tie at halftime, Mohawk Valley finally broke through on a breakaway goal at the 69:33-minute mark. The Hawks' Sydney Cook ran down a long pass from Macy Vitale and scored on a shot to the lower left side of the net.
The Vikings had one last opportunity at the end of the game with a corner kick. The Hawks defense was able to deflect the ball away from the net as time ran out.
The schedule doesn't get any easier for the women's soccer team as they travel to play No.1 ranked Herkimer on Wednesday, September 26 at 7 p.m.
