Hudson Valley Community College women's soccer (11-2-1) defeated Jefferson 6-0 on the road in the 2018 regular season finale.
The Vikings didn't waste any time as they scored early and often on the Spartans for the Vikings 11thwin of the year. Brooke Clough (Latham/Shaker) and Sydnee Metzold (Rotterdam/Schalmont) combined to score five of the teams six goals in the win.
Metzold scored the Vikings first goal at 32:58 as she connected on a corner kick, which sailed by the keeper and into the back of the net. The Vikings second goal was scored by Metzold and was unassisted as she gathered the ball and dribbled through the middle for the open shot on goal.
Clough scored her first goal with 2:58 remaining in the first half as she sent her shot to the top left corner of the net for the score. Clough finished the weekend with six goals scored after her second goal of the day, which was assisted by Metzold through the middle of the field.
With 1:55 remaining in the game, Clough found Metzold open for her third and final goal of the game.
GoalkeeperBailey Dunn (Saugerties/Saugerties) didn't have to make a save as she secured her eighth shutout win of the year.
The Vikings have earned the fifth seed in the NJCAA Region 3 Championships for the second straight season and will travel to play No. 4 Herkimer on Thursday, October 25 at 3:30 p.m.
